Letter from the Director

Greetings and thank you for visiting our website. World Hope is a faith based relief and development, humanitarian organization seeking to bring hope and healing to a hurting world.

World Hope Ukraine was born out of World Hope Canada and has been working in the city of Odessa, since the year 2000 bringing light into the lives of the estimated 10,000 children who call the streets their home. Starting with the distribution of food and blankets, it was obvious to all involved that we needed to take steps to provide a way for these children to get off the streets and into an environment where they could grow into adulthood.

First Step Center was established to provide for the needs of street children. Open from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm. this drop-in center provides two hot nutritious meals, a warm shower, clean clothes, and a place to feel safe. But what we believe is even more important, these abandoned, rejected and abused children are learning that there are adults who care about them and will protect them and love them unconditionally. We want them to learn not only from our words, but from our deeds, that this is true.

In December 2004 “Hope House” was purchased by Horizons Foundation and League of Prayer, to be used as a permanent home for the children who were ready to leave the streets behind. This home for up to 14 children provides an atmosphere where children experience the real love of a normal family. Hope House exists for the purpose of assisting these children to become productive members of Ukrainian society, and a good example to other children around them.
